Rain is likely starting around 5AM Thursday and continuing until around 2PM after which thunderstorms are possible through the evening. The rain is expected to subside Friday morning.
The NC Emergency Management office indicates that Winston-Salem is very close to the slight risk to enhanced risk area for scattered severe storms.
From the National Weather Service:

the afternoon Thursday. The risk of strong to severe thunderstorms
appears to be greatest south of a line from Charlotte to Goldsboro,
with lesser threat to the north. This risk may very well change as
this system evolves tonight and Thursday.
There may be another risk of a few strong to severe thunderstorms on
Saturday.
Please seek shelter if your home is forecast to be impacted by severe weather.
